The original Anchor Buddy — offshore parking for your boat. Drop your anchor about 30 feet out, head to shore, and the poly-covered bungee core stretches from 14 to 50 feet, easing your boat back off the beach — away from rocks, props, and crowds — while keeping it close enough to reach when you need it.

Why buy from Greenfield

The original — accept no imitations

  • Invented and trademarked by Greenfield
  • The name copycats borrow — this is the real one
  • From the family-owned brand holding America's boats since 1959

Greenfield brought Anchor Buddy to market and still builds it to the original standard.

Best for

  • Beach days, sandbars, and shoreline stops
  • Keeping the boat off the sand, rocks, and crowds
  • Rough-water anchoring, as a shock-absorbing anchor line
  • Boaters searching for a bungee anchor line or stretch anchor rope

Key details

  • The original stretch anchor line — invented and trademarked by Greenfield.
  • Stretches from 14 ft to 50 ft to park your boat safely off the beach.
  • Pay out your bow line and Anchor Buddy eases the boat back offshore on its own.
  • Also takes the shock out of your anchor line when anchoring in rough water.

Not for

  • Docking — that's a dock line's job
  • Towing, tubing, or pulling anything
  • Overnight, unattended, or permanent mooring
  • Working alone — it pairs with a properly set anchor
How offshore parking works

Set your anchor about 30 feet off the beach with Anchor Buddy as the anchor line, then run your bow line to shore as you come in.

Step off, and pay out the bow line: Anchor Buddy retracts and eases the boat back out over deeper water — off the sand, away from rocks and prop traffic.

Need the boat? Pull the bow line and it comes to you. That's the whole trick, and it's why beach boaters have copied the idea ever since.

Why Greenfield

Anchor Buddy is a Greenfield original — we invented it, we own the name, and we've watched half the industry try to imitate it. It exists because dragging a hull onto sand and rocks is a lousy way to spend a beach day. Sixty-plus years of holding America's boats went into something this simple to use.

Product questions

What is Anchor Buddy used for?

Temporary offshore parking: it holds your boat off the beach — away from sand, rocks, and traffic — while keeping it close enough to pull back in with a bow line.

Is this the original Anchor Buddy?

Yes. Greenfield invented Anchor Buddy, owns the trademark, and still makes the original.

Does it replace an anchor?

No — it's the stretch line between your anchor and your boat. Pair it with a properly sized, properly set anchor.

Can I use it as a dock line or tow rope?

No. For no-knot docking, use Stretch 'n Slide. Never use any bungee line for towing.

How far does it stretch?

From 14 feet relaxed out to 50 feet — enough to set the anchor in deeper water and still bring the boat to shore.
